General notes from a small but passionate eBay presence (absolutely no offense intended whatsoever):
1. Returns
We are pleased to offer free returns, but please don't abuse this. We offer free returns to make things easy for you in case we have made a mistake. But we still need communication first. By sending a quick message to the seller, most issues can be resolved. Sometimes without even needing to return anything.
If it's agreed through messaging that a return is best and it was our mistake/ fault (or if you're just that unhappy with your purchase), we will gladly pay for & provide you with a return label. In fact, most sellers operate this way.
If a return is needed and it was actually your fault, please just pay for your own label and send a message with the tracking info. This is all the "proof" eBay needs that you've returned something. You can then take pride in the fact that you did the right thing, and did not take advantage!
Bottom line: there is never a need to blindly open a case against us through eBay, return or otherwise. We are a very small "store" on eBay, operated by 2 human beings. So please, just talk to us. Communication is everything!
.
2. Item Details
The majority of items we sell came from a family member's estate. (Some from other estates.) We pass along whatever info was given to us at the time, or whatever we have found out through our own research. Though we have gained a lot of knowledge over time, we are not experts on these items. If we were to have everything verified/ appraised/ etc., our prices would have to increase significantly. Our goal is to offer quality items at great prices. We would never knowingly provide false info on any item. We would much rather sell to you 10 times at a lower price with honesty than 1 time at a high price with a lie, never to see you again. That makes zero business sense. We want happy customers who will return!
.
3. Feedback
We are also not product designers or makers or distributors. Only re- sellers. We did not make these items. If you have something negative to say regarding the design of an item, or the quality of materials that were used, etc., please feel free to leave a review on the creator's site with your thoughts. The feedback left on eBay is meant to be about your buying experience with that seller. For example, was the item described well? Is it what you expected based on the pictures and description? If you asked questions, were they answered in a timely and professional manner? Did the seller ship your item within their promised time frame? (This is a big one. Once an item is handed over to a carrier, the seller has fulfilled their promise. Way too many sellers get negative feedback based on a delivery taking too long. Again, feel free to leave your thoughts with the responsible party!)
The feedback you give on eBay should reflect only things that the seller has control over.
.
4. Used Items
This may seem obvious, but unless a seller has stated that an item is in like- new condition, we should all expect that used items will look, well, used!
Opinions about condition can vary greatly. If a seller has selected "pre-owned", then any statements regarding the appearance of that item are going to be the seller's opinion. Period.
.
5. Used Jewelry
Most people don't realize that jewelry requires periodic maintenance. Even the highest quality stuff won't look pretty forever without any effort. When purchasing a pre-owned piece, it is safest to assume that it has been neglected. We always recommend taking your purchase to a local jeweler for a check-up. They can straighten/ tighten/ repair/ replace as needed, and can often buff out surface scratches. All in addition to giving it a professional cleaning. What you get back often looks brand new! Some places won't even charge you for the simple stuff, just so they can establish a relationship with you. If there is a fee it is usually minimal, and well worth it to keep your jewelry looking top notch for the long haul!
.
6. Final Thought
We do realize that there will always be some who would rather hide behind/ use & abuse eBay's buyer- friendly policies. We have nothing to say to those individuals apart from reminding them what goes around, comes around. It is generally true that you get what you give in this world.
In other words, karma can be a real.... well, you know.
THANKS FOR MAKING IT TO THE END!
