    Description

The Domestic Medical Practice was written for the lay person because the author's felt that everyone had a right to all knowledge, even medicine.
At 1461 pages, with more than 400 illustrations this book is very comprehensive. Some of the illustrations are done in layers where part of the picture can be lifted up to see the next layer of the anatomy.
At the back of the book there are 4 pages. One to be used each year to get a supplement.  The instructions are to cut out a page and send it in (with 10 cents). (See picture) There were originally 5 pages, but a previous owner must have taken advantage of getting the supplement.
For a 98 year old and very large book the pages are in very good condition.  I did not see any writing on the pages and only a very rare corner that was bent.
The cover however, shows the wear.  See the picture of the spine where the cover is split horizontally just above the title. On the inside of both the front and back covers the paper (pastedown) attached to the cover has torn away.  They have been glued back into place. The tears will likely happen again.  The picture of the front inside cover shows where the tear is. It is similar for the back cover.
