The last patent covering this machine was dated 1895 which is when I think the electroshock device was made. The machine is meant for exhibition and important in terms of its history not its present-day use (quack medical device). The portable faradic battery machine was designed to be used by physicians and to be of good quality. The unit is housed in a small double hinged hardwood box in very good state.
