I started designing and building ignition boxes for friends, family, and local car enthusiasts a couple years ago when I couldn't find something I felt was ideal for my application. I recently started offering these to the general public and feedback has been positive. Acceleration will be noticeably brisker, starts will be faster, flooding will be very difficult, and points/pertronix modules will last nearly forever as they are breaking very little current. Help me grow my small business, the price is likely to go up in the future.
The ignition box works on any car with a distributor with either points or Pertronix. This is a unique design which delivers long duration AC capacitive discharge sparks. This design uncouples the power supply from the coil when firing allowing a more efficient and smaller power supply. The end result is less time between sparks, less heat generated, and a smaller size. Unlike most other ignition boxes this unit multi sparks all the way to redline as well. As you can see from the attached oscilloscope reading spark duration is approximately 400us rather than the 50us of most other ignition boxes. This is due to circuitry which allows the discharge capacitor to fully discharge rather than short abrupt pulses.
Although similar in function to MSD etc. this unit is based off a recently expired patent and has specific advantages vs. other ignition systems. This ignition box has the punch to fire fouled plugs/rich mixtures as well as the spark duration needed to light off lean mixtures. In testing an engine ran smoothly at 45 degrees of advance an area where many ignition systems struggle.
All units are fully tested prior to shipping.
Hookup is easy and consists of the following;
Red Wire=+12V
Black Wire=Ground
Green=Coil Negative
Yellow=Coil Positive
Blue=Points/Pertronix
White=Tachometer
The housing measurements are 4.25" X 3.5" X 1.75" and can be mounted with self tapping screws. The housing is made out of billet aluminum. Please message me with any questions.
