MICROWAVE OVEN VIntage 1970's 1980 SEARS Kenmore Rotary Knobs Antique Appliance

Very RARE these days. One of the earlier microwave ovens to be offered by Sears Kenmore. Not many people bought microwaves back then due to cost and controversy. Model 562.9967310 and serial number 3X15709. This microwave is very heavy and made like a tank. It can take two people to lift it. Rotary turn knob. Thick 3 prong standard 110 volt electric cord is in good shape. Microwave heats fine. Two functions COOK and DEFROST...that's it. Some typical wear and scratches and would benefit from a good cleaning. Inside looks like strong stainless steel. No glass tray. I am not sure if there ever was one. Inside lights up. Rotary light up time indicator looks similar to a Panasonic 1970's radio receiver. This microwave would be perfect if you have a 1970's décor. Power on and the microwave looks like it is cooking and the internal fan is going...however it really is not cooking until one closes the door, pushes the "cook" button after setting the cooking time. Seems a little strange how they electronically designed this model. I am sure it scared a few people back in the day because it seems like it might be cooking when the front door was still open. Great period prop that actually heats food and is useful. Numbers for cooking time are not properly lined up. Timer makes an old school ding noise to alert when cooking is done. Underneath microwave (pictured) there is a slide out vent screen. I have never seen a model like this before and probably will never again. Measures  20 1/4" length x 20 1/2" depth x 14" height.
