Description
~ Rare -- I've Never Come Across Another ~The Spatula Label Book
Contains 100s and 100s of labels
Authored by Wilbur Scoville -- The pharmacist who created the Scoville Scale used to grade pepper hotness.
No copyright noted, hoevever based on the authors life and career, I would place this label book around 1910/1920s.
Per the cover "Comprising labels for practically all the drugs, chemicals, and preparations of the USP and NF, together with many for drugs in the British Pharmacopeia, and for a large number of unofficial articles, utensils, apparatus, etc. in all over 2,000 labels."
The labels seem to be printed on plain paper -- I'm guessing the druggist was expected to cut these out and apply some glue/mucilage to attach them
Condition Description: The binding is still firm. The book is largely intact with some labels cut out and missing. This book originally contained >2,000 labels. If I had to guess, less than 100 are missing. There is a watermark along the bottom of the book that resulted in a mark on the very bottle of most label pages. The back cover is partially detached. The front cover is torn in the top left. Clean and free of markings. No musty smell. Stored in a climate controlled, smoke free environment. Refer to the multiple pictures.
Shipping with insurance and online tracking is included in the price.
