    Antique "Phila" "M" Apothecary Cork Press for Pharmacists Druggists Bottles
    1800s Cork Press is made of Cast Iron with original screws and wooden block, has a monogram M and PHILA (abbreviation for Philadelphia) on the top.
    These were used by Pharmacists and Druggists to compress corks for medical bottles, it has three different diameter 1/4, 3/8, 1/2” press points. Measures 9” long and can be screwed down to a work surface. Cork Presses were used throughout the 1800s and early 1900s you would have found them in Pharmacy’s and Drug stores across America.
    You lift the handle and place a moistened cork into the press by pushing the handle down the cork would compress to the size bottle you needed it to fit.
