Yes, the prosthetics arm with the opening thumb allowed the person to be able to write and hold things in there prosthetic arm the help them out through life. So a big game changer when they had a opening thumb. Soldiers would be able to get jobs.
Missing hardware on thumb. Strap was cut I can see.
Spring loaded, hinged thumb
Missing hardware on the thumb to pull open.
Hand rotates, locks in place and unclips.
Composition & metal, with leather trim.
Vintage condition with light wear consistent with its age and used.

Condition: Antique, dust and rust on the arm. Might need more cleaning I don't want damage or make less value sold as I found it. Rust is on metal both sides. Parts moved can bent arm back and forth. Hand can be removed and thumb opens. Thumb shows used. Paint rubbed off or crakes on finger's from used as well two I can see on hand. Straps show wear and rust. Leather is brittle on the shoulder. Bought it from London seller.
