    Description

    This very old and RARE antique solid brass Auvard weighted vaginal speculum is being sold as a collectible, the plating is worn through to the brass in spots and it is not suitable for medical use.  It has plenty of signs of use, the business end has a few small waves from being bent  and straightened that do show well in the photos.  It weighs 3.1 lbs.
    This item was researched at length and I was not able to determine when they were no longer made of brass.  From my research, I believe they stopped using brass sometime in the 1800s, if this is not correct I would be happy to get additional information, please message me.
