    Description

    Here we have an
    Antique G. I. MIX & CO. Timber Framing, Shipwright's Carpenter's Beveled Edge 1-3/4" Chisel.
    G. I. Mix & Co. (Garry I. Mix) began manufacturing carpenter tools and edge tools in Yatesville, CT in 1855 employing over 150 people in his factory.
    They were well known for the quality of their chisels and draw knives. The company operated into the early 1900’s.
    Their faint mark is on the upper section of the body and has a punch/pin over-stamped owner 'S' mark that also makes it difficult to read the maker's mark.
    This socket style chisel is in good 'used tool' condition with some minor corrosion marks here and there. (PLEASE SEE PICS !)
    The hardwood handle has a short crack down near the socket and nicks at the impact end.
    The cutting bit has a sharp edge but should be touched up before use. Total length is approx. 19" and it weight approx. 2.25 lbs.
