Antique Door Sign, Dr. Stephen W Hayes, St. Josephs Hospital, New Bedford MA

3.5x2.5", silver-plated brass door plaque of Dr. Stephen Hayes, who was physician in charge at St. Joseph's Hospital on Pleasant St. in New Bedford, Mass.  He was vice-president of the Mass Medical Society in 1902, and lived at 61 Orchard Court, New Bedford, MA (1915 directory).  The Letters are deeply etched or cast and are filled with a dark substance, paint or rubber it seems.  The central spike on the back is almost 2" long.  I believe this was on the door of his office.
