Antique A W Crossman 1/2" Wood Chisel

Description

On Offer:  A really nice antique 1/2" A W Crossman socket style wood chisel in blade excellent condition for its age. A W Crossman chisels were manufactured from 1853 to 1866.  In 1867 the firm name changed to A W Crossman & Son.  The chisel blade is 8 1/2" long and has some light staining  and patina,
but nothing
that would impact the use of the chisel.  There are the initials J P stamped on the back of the chisel den near the socket. The back is ground flat and a new 25 degree bevel has been hand ground.  Both have been honed and stropped.  Put on a new handle and the chisel is ready for use.  I have a couple of larger size Crossmans and the steel holds a good edge.
