    Description

Sleigh, Replica U. S. Army Ammunition Carrier.
I found this sleigh in a barn in Adams, New York. It is a small sleigh built entirely of native oak and reinforced with steel braces. The overall width of the sleigh is forty-two inches. The box is seven foot long by thirty-three inches wide by eight inches deep. The box sits on heavy bobs twenty-four inches off the ground. It is set up with a team pole for two horses. It was obviously meant to carry a heavy load and a sleigh of this style and design may have been used to carry ammunition to the troops in the field during winter training at Pine Camp. Pine Camp is now called Fort Drum and it is the home of the 10th Mountain Division.
I restored the sleigh to look as it may have looked when used at Pine Camp.
The secomd sleigh was built by Peter McGovern in Lowville,N.Y. It is an antique sleigh circa 1920. It would make a great display piece, but it is strong enough to be hooked to your horse for great winter fun. It comes with single horse shafts. The upholstery is all new. 00.00 for the pair or 00.00 each.
