Already in the 20th century, the last revolution came from the hand of the publishing house “Industrias graficas Seix i Barral” which in 1915 and on its own merits took over the market for toy theaters in Spain. The Catalan "teatrins" began to be known in our country as "paper theatres" and later, thanks to Seix i Barral, the "Children's Theater" (the name under which they marketed their products) became a popular term . The first of his theaters, the cut-out Model B, remained faithful in its form to the models of Central European origin. However, that same year they released the BB luxury model that came in a box with the mouthpiece and curtains already die-cut and ready to mount.
The “Children's Theater” is without a doubt and by far the best of the “modern school”. They were signed by C.B Nualart, none other than Carlos Barral i Nualart, father of the Barral brothers, who took exquisite care of the details and design.
The Barral brothers manufactured up to 10 models of theater entrances or prosceniums and put on sale numerous classic works that included scripts, characters and fabulous sets. 23 works were published that could be used indistinctly in any of the firm's theaters.
Its system of boxes and hangings made it possible to add several curtains in the same act, creating complex and beautiful theatrical effects with nothing to envy to the best sets of any real theater. They also devised a system of dies in the curtains with translucent areas of colored parchment paper that, properly illuminated, produced magical effects of atmosphere and spatial depth never seen before.
